ABOUT LISA BELL
Why kids should read more by Lisa Bell
But here are my reasons why I think kids should be reading more.
- Fantasy – every child loves fantasy and make-believe, and they are good at it too. Watch any young toddler or junior grader. They are fantastic at making up games and acting them out. Tap into this and show your kids the magic that books can bring them, the fantasy worlds they can escape into.
- Learning – vocabulary, grammar, spelling, punctuation and general good speaking. All this can be learnt by reading more. Having said that, I know a few adults that should read more, in fact!
- Knowledge is Power – true in our adult lives and true in a kid’s world too. Kids don’t need to be nerds to be knowledgeable. Books can give them so much information that will stand them in good stead for the rest of their lives.
- Ideas – kids that read more will have a better idea of what they want to be when they reach adulthood. Books can open up so many possibilities of what there is to do out there in that big bad world.
We just need to convince the kids now, don’t we?
Rebecca finds this out from a complete stranger.
Mysterious Ben literally sweeps her away into a world of magic, danger, and downright craziness. Ben explains that he has been tracking her for quite some time and reveals to her the truth about her parents and what she is.
Rebecca is a Shifter and has supernatural powers that enable her to teleport herself from one place to another, powers that have been lying dormant, up until recently.
Just as Rebecca is beginning to enjoy these newfound powers, she is whisked away again by Ben to a safer place. The Seekers, a group of people whose main aim is to stop the Shifters, are after her.
Rebecca meets Ben’s enigmatic friends and fellow Shifters. She is thrown into a whirlwind world where she learns how to hone her skills and discovers that she has more to offer than she thought to this eccentric group.
As Rebecca starts to learn more about her past and her newfound gift, she also starts to fall in love with Ben. Together they embark on an action-packed race to save themselves and their kind.
